LEASINGHAM BIN 7 RIESLING – 96 POINTS FROM HALLIDAY
Having blown away the competition at the National Wine Show in 2008 by winning two trophies, this power packed Riesling is punching well above its weight for quality and value. This wine shows great restraint for the price point, is delicate and understated, yet show complexity and good length. Leasingham was established in 1893 and was the first producer to plant Riesling in the Clare Valley, Australia’s premier Riesling region – a serious accreditation for the wine.
The perfume of the wine combines kaffir lime leaf, lemongrass and apple aromas while the palate displays juicy citrus flavours with the classic Clare Valley minerality and perky acidity. The wine is finely tuned, packed with flavour yet feels tight and lean in the mouth. This wine ranks amongst Australia’s great Rieslings and most satisfying drinks.
