Salinger is one of Australia’s best known sparkling wine brands. It was first created in the early 1980’s and is made in the methode champenoise tradition. The wine is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes sourced from various vineyards and wine regions. The overarching aim is to create the best possible wine from the select parcels available. Salinger is aged for two years prior to release, adding extra complexity to the finished sparkling.
2003 was an excellent year for the sparkling wine grape growing for Salinger. A cool spring and mild summer was followed by dry weather during harvest and lower yields added additional complexity to the wine. Aromas of blossoms and citrus are met by toast and honey. The palate is crunchy with green apple acidity and shows some creamy texture. The wine is crisp and refreshing and Salinger is renowned for offering great value for money.
